Terms of Service
Effective Date: October 8, 2026
Welcome to pseudonymize.io. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the pseudonymize.io website, developer portal, and hosted API gateway ("Service"), operated by Paolo Mazza ("Operator", developer handle ma2za).
1. Description of Service
pseudonymize.io provides hosted access to a Python engine that replaces detected identifiers with pseudonyms in text and structured records. The output can still contain identifying information and requires review before downstream use.
2. API Usage & Credit Accounting
- Access to the metered API requires purchasing credits via Stripe.
- One credit represents 1,000 metered tokens and costs €0.001. Each successful request rounds up to whole credits, with a minimum charge of one credit. €1 per million tokens is the base rate before per-request rounding.
- The gateway refunds reservations on handled upstream errors and timeouts. Unexpected gateway failures can leave a reservation pending; contact support if your balance appears incorrect.
- Credits are consumed upon successful API settlement and are non-refundable once consumed.
- We reserve the right to throttle or terminate accounts that attempt to bypass rate limits, circumvent billing mechanisms, or exploit infrastructure.
3. Customer Data and Processing Agreements
You are responsible for establishing a lawful basis for the data you submit and for assessing the transformed output. Pseudonymization does not make data anonymous. The Privacy Policy and Security page describe the gateway's handling, transient response cache, operational records, and account deletion limits. These Terms do not provide an end-to-end zero-retention or exclusive EU-processing guarantee.
For workloads requiring a Data Processing Addendum (DPA), contact [email protected] to agree the processing instructions, roles, subprocessors, retention, and technical measures before submitting the data. This section is not a substitute for a complete DPA.
4. Service Availability and Support
Contact [email protected] for service issues and [email protected] for security reports. Availability and response-time commitments apply only where separately agreed in writing.
5. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Operator be liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages arising from API utilization or downstream decisions.
6. Open Source Core
The underlying pseudonymization engine is open source under the Apache-2.0 License (pseudonymize package). Users are encouraged to inspect the detection methodologies, run independent benchmarks, or deploy the engine in self-hosted environments.
